Best practices

Etsy product photo best practices

Etsy photos work when the first image shows the handmade object clearly, extra shots prove scale and texture, and files are large enough without a heavy upload.

The first tile is the listing

Etsy search is visual. Lifestyle clutter that hides the object loses the click. Show the thing. Variations (color, size) deserve their own primary if they look different.

Scale and texture need extra frames

A coin, ruler or hand for scale. A crop for stitch or grain. Infographics can hold dimensions if type stays sharp—often PNG. CrossKit Image Resizer and Image Compressor prep files in the browser; they do not replace a daylight photoshoot.

Size then compress

Export a long side that meets current Etsy recommendations, then compress so the listing editor accepts the file. Do not upscale a phone thumbnail. Keep masters.

Honesty

Photos should match the SKU the buyer receives. Filters that change color become returns. CrossKit is not an Etsy partner.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

White background or lifestyle first?

Whichever shows the object faster on a phone grid. Many handmade shops lead with a clean object shot, then lifestyle.

Can I reuse Amazon packshots?

If they show the same handmade item, yes after you check Etsy size and watermark rules. Amazon-only infographics may look off-brand.

Do these tools upload to Etsy?

No. They prep files in the browser. You upload in Etsy.
